Acker Electric

Founded in 1958, Acker Electric Company is a privately-owned, second-generation family business that has been operating and serving northeast Alabama for almost 60 years. We are primarily a Small Business Electrical Contractor, licensed by the State of Alabama as a General Contractor with additional self-perform capabilities. Our experience, ranging from small to multi-million dollar projects, allows us to provide flexible, creative management for any opportunity.

We bring good things to light by offering a full range of electrical services including new construction, building improvements, maintenance projects, and service work. Our project support and engineering services include pre-construction planning, design-build solutions, CAD drawings, project management and scheduling, and high/low voltage expertise. We have worked on various projects such as Kronospan, AAD Choccolocco Park, and have received outstanding ratings on our performance reviews for direct contracts with the US Corps of Engineers.

Our driving force is our employees, many of whom have over 30 years of service and experience. We offer a state certified training program for new hires who wish to work towards their Journeyman license. Safety in all construction operations is not just a corporate goal, it is a requirement. We are committed to maintaining the standards of integrity established by our founder, Gerald "Snake" Acker, and continue to grow as a full-service electrical contractor.

Our History

In 1958, Gerald "Snake" Acker began the foundations of Acker Electric Company with only himself and a truck. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned home and began wiring houses around the Anniston area. With much energy and effort, he grew the company from a small, residential contractor into a commercial and industrial contractor equipped to take on large, challenging projects. After a few name changes and a switch from a union shop to a merit shop in 1977, Acker Electric Company has continued to grow and develop a reputation for having an Attitude of service, Excellence in quality, and a Commitment to safety.
